The sculptor and her model, Nick McClelland, unveiled the sculpture together at Arkansas Children's Hospital Northwest in Springdale, Arkansas. Angela shared the inspiration behind the sculpture:
I had the great delight of meeting the inspiration for this sculpture of I Am Superman just under two years ago. I came to Arkansas from Dallas to meet Nicky. We took many, many photographs and measurements. Back in my Dallas studio I just loved creating his sculpture because the superpowers he knows he has came through in his facial expression, in his stance, and even in his restless, wiggling toe. Keep up the good work, Nicky, in sharing with the world around you your unique strengths and keep developing them.
My hopes are that everyone here and more visitors in the future can identify in some way with the self-worth we see in this sculpture – that it makes you feel good, energized, and that it makes you smile. p>
